Sleeper is hiring a Data Scientist - Risk and Trading (Daily Fantasy Sports) to support our DFS operations. In this role, you’ll apply data analysis and modeling to manage liability and risk exposure for our fast-growing platform.

What You'll Do

Support risk and liability management through data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Develop predictive models and algorithms to understand Sleeper’s real-time liability and risk exposure.
Conduct data wrangling, processing, and cleaning, and design tools for monitoring performance and accuracy.
Monitor real-time odds, player statistics, and breaking news, making real-time market adjustments and suspensions.
Build user risk profiles based on behavior patterns.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance personalization.
Automate risk and trading processes to scale for growth in users, sports, and markets.

What We're Looking For

Background in computer science, data science, machine learning, mathematics/statistics, or a similar field.
Comfort working with and analyzing large data sets.
In-depth knowledge of DFS, sports betting, player props, handicapping, expected value, and closing line value.
Proactive attitude, ready to build processes from scratch and challenge traditional industry approaches.
Comfort working off hours including nights and weekends to align with sports calendar peaks.
Knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or related software/tools.
Familiarity with databases, data warehouses, data visualizations, and report building.
Experience with player performance metrics, game outcome predictions, and in-game event modeling.
Experience working with real-time sports data feeds and APIs.

Nice to Have

Extensive experience with high volumes of DFS/sports betting and real money games, either as a trader, +EV bettor, and/or oddsmaker.
