Western Digital is hiring a Data Engineering Intern as part of our structured Early Career program. You will receive foundational training through onboarding, mentorship, and hands-on development, contributing to projects that power our data storage technology.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain dashboards, automated reports, and test scripts, integrating outputs into internal systems.
- Experiment with AI tools to enhance access to reports, documentation, and knowledge bases.
- Contribute production-quality code and lead scoped projects across data, automation, backend, or visualization domains.
- Learn hands-on with direct mentorship from experienced engineers.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with R, SQL, or Python through coursework, academic projects, research, or personal projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail demonstrated in academic or project work.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with teammates, including students, researchers, and mentors.
- Interest in or curiosity about the data storage (HDD) industry, gained through classes, projects, or independent learning.
- Exposure to Generative AI, NLP, or other AI/ML tools through coursework, labs, or projects.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools or cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS) through academic or project-based use.
- Basic understanding of version control and CI/CD concepts (e.g., Git; exposure to Jenkins, Docker is a plus).
Nice to Have
- Experience with additional programming languages such as C++, Java, or JavaScript/Node.js, gained through coursework, side projects, or research.
