Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer specializing in data analytics to enhance health system performance. In this role, you will use analytics, technology, and consulting services to drive meaningful improvements, focusing on operational efficiency and scalable solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end business process management activities, including reviewing, designing, and continuously improving operational processes.
- Drive customer readiness and implementation by leading cross-functional teams, diagnosing process improvement opportunities, and developing solutions.
- Apply industrial engineering fundamentals, advanced statistical modeling, and emerging technologies to develop practical, data-driven solutions.
- Partner with leadership to define project strategies, develop plans, and perform cost-benefit analyses.
- Provide analytical support to define business requirements, functional specifications, and design criteria for process and technical projects.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on productivity measurement, including standard time development, work studies, and performance measurement.
- Use statistical and quantitative methods to evaluate operational performance, forecast demand, and determine staffing and capacity requirements.
- Analyze and improve workflows by evaluating process maps, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending enhancements.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of statistical quality control, business intelligence concepts, and project management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; degree preferred in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Engineering/Mathematics.
- 5+ years of experience applying industrial engineering fundamentals, including time and motion studies.
- 3+ years of experience documenting processes, process mapping, and deploying process documentation standards.
- 3+ years of experience applying statistical methods.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree or MBA.
- Experience in Agile methodologies.
- Experience with capacity planning.
- Experience managing multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Experience with data mining methods, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques.
- Experience applying industrial engineering fundamentals in a service industry.
- Experience as a change agent with demonstrated transformations in the process engineering domain.
- Proven excellent communication, time/project management, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Willingness or ability to work on a shift timing of 3:30 PM to 1:00 AM IST.
