Trane Technologies is hiring a Data Analyst

Trane Technologies is looking for a Data Analyst specializing in Measurement & Verification (M&V) to analyze building energy consumption data. You will join a team dedicated to creating innovative climate solutions for a sustainable world, working a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week onsite in Montreal.

What You'll Do

• Lead analysis and modeling of building energy consumption data using linear regressions and other models proposed by IPMVP and ASHRAE Guideline 14.
• Oversee baseline and post-installation data collection from building automation systems, field measurements, data loggers, and performance tests.
• Use Trace 3D+ to create representative site models and calculate savings at individual building and portfolio scales.
• Evaluate project performance risks, analyze savings calculations, and interpret trends in energy consumption data.
• Generate regularly updated savings reports and review those prepared by peers.
• Communicate calculation results to relevant stakeholders quickly and through various channels.
• Provide technical assistance for energy management systems, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and analysis of energy savings.
• Ensure continuous project visibility, quickly identify underperforming projects, and inform stakeholders.
• Resolve issues at underperforming sites and collaborate with teams to develop improvement plans.
• Develop standard work methods and systems to improve the quality and efficiency of internal processes.
• Extract, manipulate, and present results from large datasets using various applications.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum BSME degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, building engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of HVAC principles and basic familiarity with HVAC equipment.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in data analysis/modeling and applying statistical principles.
• Proficiency in Python programming (preferred).
• Knowledge of R and SQL.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with multiple people from various departments.
• Adaptability and willingness to evolve with new procedures and processes.
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in M&V with IPMVP — ASHRAE Guideline 14.
• Possession of CEM, EMIT and/or CMVP titles.

• Salary range: $56,000 - $85,000
