About the Role

Brightspeed is looking for a Customer Service Technician to perform critical hands-on work installing and maintaining our high-speed internet, video, and voice networks. This role is central to providing reliable service directly to our customers, involving troubleshooting, equipment work, and maintenance of outside plant facilities.

What You'll Do

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed internet, video, and voice networks, including associated wiring and equipment
  • Perform maintenance and repair on outside plant facilities within assigned geographic service areas
  • Climb poles, use a shovel and pick to dig up and bury cable, and work in utility access holes or controlled environmental vaults
  • Locate buried telephone cables and safely work aloft on ladders
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Assist other technical personnel and direct customer-facing work
  • Actively support sales and marketing activities and provide sales referrals

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Ability to distinguish colors on facilities and handle 28-foot extension ladders (up to 75 lbs.) and utility access hole covers (up to 150 lbs.)
  • Ability to successfully complete required technical training programs
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, aloft on ladders, and outside in all weather conditions at various hours
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Positive and professional appearance and demeanor for customer communication
  • Strong accountability/dependability, teamwork, active listening, and active learning skills
  • Ability to ask relevant questions to resolve problems quickly

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience as a customer-facing telecom operations technician
  • Basic electricity training/certification or documented equivalent work experience
  • ADSL installation/repair experience
  • A+/Net+ Certification

Work Mode

This is an onsite position. You must be available to work varying shifts including mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays.
