Paired is hiring a Criminal Defense Paralegal to join our remote team supporting a US-based law firm. You will apply your substantial knowledge of criminal defense law to assist attorneys in managing a diverse caseload.
What You'll Do
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing case files and conducting in-depth legal research.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and client correspondence.
- Review and summarize evidence such as police reports and witness statements.
- Maintain an organized case management system.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Support attorneys in trial preparations by coordinating exhibits and organizing materials.
- Conduct legal research for case development and strategic planning.
- Assist with administrative tasks including billing and case management duties.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience within a legal setting.
- 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal.
- Comprehensive understanding of criminal law and pertinent legal principles.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English.
- Familiarity with US criminal law on both state and federal levels.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a law office or legal environment.
- Solid writing and drafting skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
