HSBC Group is hiring a Credit Manager to join our Corporate Credit Risk team. In this pivotal role, you will independently evaluate and approve high-value credit transactions across Corporates, Commercial Real Estate, and the Global Private Bank. You will act as a subject matter expert, influence policy and process improvements, and help set risk appetite while managing emerging risks.
What You'll Do
- Assess and approve credit transactions and annual reviews within your delegated authority, and make structured recommendations for those exceeding it.
- Conduct periodic portfolio reviews to identify trends, concentration risks, and problem exposures.
- Undertake sector reviews to set and manage risk appetite and lending guidelines.
- Coordinate with Group Risk, Regional Risk, origination teams, and portfolio management to ensure timely, high-quality credit decisions and oversight.
- Participate in working groups and projects to improve processes, design policy, streamline operations, and enhance risk management.
- Monitor emerging risks such as transition risk, fraud risk, and climate risk, implementing enhanced controls as needed.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager to deliver professional risk management, contributing to succession planning, talent management, and employee engagement.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrable ability to evaluate and approve complex credit transactions and annual reviews within Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, or Private Banking.
- Experience conducting portfolio reviews, identifying trends and risks, and managing industry or counterparty risk appetite, including setting lending guidelines.
- Proven track record of collaborating with stakeholders like origination teams, portfolio management, and risk functions to coordinate credit decisions.
- Involvement in working groups or projects to improve processes, design policy, streamline operations, or enhance risk management frameworks.
- Experience in monitoring emerging risks, implementing enhanced controls, and managing Watch, Worry, Monitor lists.
- Ability to support team leadership, succession planning, and employee engagement, particularly in a cross-border or offshore team environment.
