AECON - Aecon Group Inc. is looking for a Cost Controller to join our New Nuclear Development Program. You will support major new-build nuclear projects from business development through execution across Canada, the United States, and abroad. Reporting to the Project Controls Director, you will be responsible for project setup, detailed reporting, variance analysis, and ensuring adherence to our Project Controls standards.
What You'll Do
- Assist in project set-up activities, including establishing the WBS and all control accounts, reconciling bids to awards, and setting the cost and schedule baseline.
- Participate in proposal and estimating efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and baselines.
- Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings.
- Liaise with external groups like Accounting, Finance, Procurement, and Construction to gather input for Project Controls reports.
- Create and maintain project status update reports, forecast reports, and project dashboards, ensuring timely issuance to stakeholders.
- Create and maintain customized reports or dashboards to adapt to evolving project risks and needs.
- Develop and maintain resource plans, ensuring alignment between cost and schedule.
- Conduct regular variance analysis to understand trends and baseline deviations, providing variance narratives and proposing corrective actions.
- Assist in monitoring project health and performance, ensuring key performance metrics are clearly communicated to project leadership.
- Regularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g., CPI, SPI), propose corrective actions, and provide timely feedback on adverse trends.
- Prepare Earned Value Management KPIs to assess project performance.
- Assist in creating and maintaining tools and templates to ensure compliance with Project Controls plans and contract requirements.
- Support the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, tools, and templates.
- Develop and maintain a change log to track all internal and external changes, monitoring progress through the change management process.
- Review the contract to ensure compliance with conditions regarding reporting, change management, and other Project Controls areas.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to the project team on any customized reporting tools and dashboards.
What We're Looking For
- 5-10 years of related experience in Project Controls or a similar field.
- A Quantitative, Engineering, or Construction Management Post-Secondary Degree.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel.
