Penn State University Press is hiring a temporary, part-time Copyright and Records Assistant. This role involves supporting the press’s records management and copyright processes through detailed archival and administrative work. You’ll work on-site in our office and warehouse environment.
What You'll Do
- Process a backlog of books for copyright registration, identifying missing registrations, completing applications, and coordinating shipments.
- Sort and digitize paper documents including permissions, invoices, and copyright certificates.
- Review miscellaneous files to determine, based on provided guidance, which should be retained or discarded.
- Audit the press library to identify duplicate and missing books and reshelve books out of alphabetical order.
What We're Looking For
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail for accurate completion of copyright applications and verification of bibliographic information.
- Ability to follow established procedures and guidelines when determining file retention and handling archival materials.
- Proficiency with basic office software and scanning equipment for document digitization and record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and on-site in a warehouse/office environment, including handling and shelving books.
Nice to Have
- Background in book publishing or related work.

This is an on-site, temporary, part-time position located at the Penn State University Press office and warehouse.
