About the Role
The Controls Specialist will develop and support control system solutions for material handling and processing systems, focusing on automation, troubleshooting, and system optimization in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and configure PLC-based control systems for industrial applications
- Develop and test HMI interfaces for machine operation and monitoring
- Implement control logic using ladder logic, function block, and structured text programming
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate control systems into equipment designs
- Perform system testing and validation in lab and field environments
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during commissioning and operation
- Support the development of safety circuits and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Create and maintain control system documentation, including schematics and I/O lists
- Assist in factory acceptance testing and site commissioning activities
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and field service teams
- Work with vendors to specify and source control components
- Ensure control systems meet project timelines and performance requirements
- Apply knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols
- Maintain version control and organization of control software
- Stay current with advancements in control system technology and industry practices
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for control system design
- Assist in training operations and maintenance personnel on control systems
- Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations
- Ensure adherence to electrical and control system design standards
- Respond to customer inquiries related to control system functionality
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware integration issues
- Support remote troubleshooting using secure connectivity methods
- Document system changes and update control drawings as needed
- Coordinate with project managers on deliverables and milestones
- Assist in the development of control system standards and best practices
