Unifiller Systems ULC is seeking a Controls Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with project leaders to develop and verify control systems, create electrical schematics, and program PLC and HMI interfaces. You will be responsible for ensuring machine functionality through testing, documenting systems, and providing training and support.
What You'll Do
- Work with project leaders to verify control details and create electrical schematic diagrams.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Team to specify and source components for electrical designs.
- Program PLC control systems and HMI screens.
- Verify machine functionality by performing functional, in-house, and onsite product testing.
- Document control systems and write technical operating manuals.
- Assist the Customer Care team by providing customer support and troubleshooting controls-related issues.
- Train Unifiller staff in control system use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or Mechatronics Diploma/Degree or similar background.
- Experience in designing industrial control systems using AutoCAD to create schematic diagrams.
- Experience with PLC control systems, HMI Programming, and industrial networks.
- Experience with Pneumatic, Stepper, VFD, and Servo control components, their function, and configuration.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience using MRP/ERP, Project management, and MS Office software.
- Good verbal and written command of the English language.
- Ability to interact with a variety of individuals from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service.
- Ability to travel within and outside of Canada for installs, commissioning, and equipment servicing.
Nice to Have
- Allen Bradley, Unitronics PLC/HMI, and DeviceNet/CANbus/Ethernet IP experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of different languages is an asset.
