The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is hiring a Controller to oversee our daily financial, accounting, and business operations. This full-time, exempt remote position ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financials, budgeting, and regulatory processes. You'll be a key partner to our CEO and must be located within the Omaha, NE region for effective collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Drive the annual organization planning and budgeting process independently.
- Develop, track, and evolve operating and results metrics tied to strategic goals.
- Evaluate and evolve our financial systems and tools.
- Lead small cross-functional project teams and supervise a small staff.
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with general and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Manage accounting processes ensuring sound fiscal management, compliance, and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for grants, budgets, and audits.
- Reconcile the monthly donation database to daily payment processor deposits.
- Handle monthly invoicing and oversee accounts receivable.
- Track restricted grants and perform refund requests.
- Coordinate and collect annual audit items and support the audit process.
- Oversee weekly accounts payable and partner with staff and a PEO for payroll.
- Review monthly chapter revenue reconciliations and membership payouts.
- Contribute to regular process improvement for accounting and related operations.
- Manage state and federal compliance filings with third-party administrators.
- Lead project-based accounting for planning, design, and construction activities.
- Ensure employee, vendor, and contractor compliance to all policies.
- Create processes and standard operating procedures for resource folders.

Nice to Have
- Experience with nonprofit organization financials and accounting.
- A B.A./B.S. in Finance, Accounting, or a related degree (relevant roles and non-traditional pathways will be considered).
- At least 4 years of experience with accounting or bookkeeping.
- Skill or familiarity with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Experience working with a complex chart of accounts for proper coding.
- Experience working in a nonprofit business environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and standard office software.
- Experience with accounting functions of CRM donor databases and project management software.
- Skill and experience managing credit card receipt processing and merchant bank systems.
