Runway Financial is hiring a Controller to build and run the financial engine that powers our growth. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you'll be the go-to expert for all things accounting and compliance, setting standards for accuracy, driving automation, and providing business clarity.
What You'll Do
- Own the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage AP, AR, payroll, expense reimbursement, and collections processes.
- Oversee tax filings and coordinate with external accountants.
- Partner with the Head of Finance in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Drive process automation and documentation to scale operations efficiently.
- Implement sales tax compliance software and manage the collection process and tax filings.
- Manage cap table data and support equity administration.
- Partner with the Head of Finance on revenue recognition, commissions, contract review, and cost management.
- Prepare materials for board meetings and investor updates.
- Build, document, and maintain internal controls to conduct the first year audit in accordance with GAAP, ASC 606, etc.
- Support fundraising, due diligence, and financial audits when applicable.
What We're Looking For
- Deep expertise in GAAP, SaaS metrics, ASC 606, and related standards.
- Proven experience supporting early-stage startups and scaling finance systems.
- A willingness to roll up your sleeves—this role is both hands-on and strategic.
- Exceptional communication skills for collaborating cross-functionally and engaging with external partners.
Nice to Have
- Experience with FP&A software.
- Familiarity with QBO, Ramp, Rippling, Sequence.

You will work side-by-side with our Head of Finance.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $160,000-$180,000
- Generous early employee equity
