Directive is hiring a Content Strategist (Remote US)

About the Role

The Content Strategist is a client-facing role at Directive Consulting responsible for creating and managing custom content and SEO strategies for B2B clients, primarily in the SaaS industry. The role involves strategic planning, project management, client communication, and performance reporting to drive measurable revenue outcomes using Directive's Customer Generation methodology.

What You'll Do

  • Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to achieve NSMs (Net Sales Metrics)
  • Use project phase as a foundational moment for building initial client strategy
  • Optimize and revise strategies over the lifetime of the client using marketing goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance
  • Adhere to Directive best practices including LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, Content Production, and goal setting
  • Work closely with Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment
  • Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns based on competitor and audience insights
  • Use data from Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting to set client goals
  • Ensure all goals are approved by Associate Director (AsD) before presenting to client
  • Publish client goals alongside Associate Director (AsD)
  • Ensure planned strategy is executed through effective project management
  • Use Asana as the required project management tool
  • Delegate tasks to team members (e.g., Specialists), clients, and ensure timely completion
  • Partner with Project Managers in pods where they are present to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and due dates are met and communicated
  • Work closely with content writers and designers to complete content campaigns on time
  • Ensure content quality meets client standards
  • Serve as the main interface between clients and internal teams
  • Build relationships with clients beyond deliverables and get to know them on a human level
  • Proactively communicate timeline expectations for deliverables, goal attainment progress, and use shared channels like Slack between bi-weekly meetings
  • Send deliverables on a regular cadence, not only during bi-weekly meetings
  • Communicate roadblocks, opportunities for account growth, and moments of change to internal leadership
  • Report moments of change such as needed strategy changes, internal client marketing changes, or point of contact changes
  • Regularly report to clients on progress and impact of strategy
  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with clients, reporting on NSM progress and ongoing deliverables
  • Deliver monthly reports
  • Deliver quarterly reports
  • Deliver 2 bi-annual business review presentations
  • Look for opportunities for clients to grow their business with Directive, including upsells, cross-sells, and referrals
  • Identify opportunities to grow into another service line (e.g., SEO or Paid Media)
  • Identify opportunities to grow within current service line (e.g., increasing content, SEO, or Paid Media budgets)
  • Ask for referrals at key moments such as when a point of contact starts a new job or leaves a 5 CSAT score

What We're Looking For

  • Proven track record of success implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building
  • Ability to analyse website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools
  • Proven organisational, project, and time management skills
  • Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO and Content
  • Must have agency experience
  • Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience
  • Driven to stay ahead of industry trends, including actively learning how AI and automation can enhance marketing and operations

Compensation: $75,000-95,000 USD annually, plus annual bonus based on tenure.

Work Mode

Remote-first with option to work from state-of-the-art offices in Irvine, CA; 100% virtual operation allowed for this role. Locations include US (remote), Irvine, California (onsite option), Canada, UK, and Australia.
