Rogue Credit Union is hiring a Consumer Loan Underwriter I or II to underwrite direct, indirect, and third-party consumer loans under general supervision and in conformance with established policies and procedures. You will work collaboratively with front line staff, dealer partners, and vendors to deliver exceptional, member-focused solutions.
What You'll Do
- Underwrite direct, indirect, and third-party loan requests within established credit guidelines and authority.
- Notify branch staff, dealer partners, and vendor personnel of loan decisions in a timely manner, clearly defining acceptable terms and conditions.
- Provide adequate explanations on loan decision rationale while evaluating potential solutions and cross-sell opportunities.
- Evaluate each application for creditworthiness of the applicants, the collateral being offered, and other factors to decide a loan utilizing sensible underwriting principles.
- Deliver member-focused solutions while providing unsurpassed friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic services to branches/departments, dealer partners, and vendors.
- Provide coaching and training to front line staff, while maintaining a friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic demeanor.
- Take a lead role in troubleshooting problems and handling delicate situations with loan applicants and vendors.
- Answer dealer and staff questions and respond to phone calls.
- Stay current on applicable regulations, credit union policies, operational controls, safety measures, service, and security procedures to ensure compliance.
- Remain alert to trends or conditions in areas that affect lending.
- Communicate frequently with Consumer Lending Center Manager, Member Solutions Department, Lending Services Department and the Indirect Lending Department for trends in the loan portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- Three to five years of similar or related underwriting experience.
- A high school education or GED.
