Bechtel is hiring a Connected Fleet Technician to join our Engineering, Construction, Procurement & Project Management team. In this role, you will provide essential support for our global machine control and telematics operations, focusing on remote troubleshooting, equipment installation, and dedicated project training. You will apply your technical expertise in heavy construction and advanced machine technologies to ensure operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Support all telematics and machine control operations across our global projects.
- Perform remote and in-field troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and installation of machine control and telematics equipment.
- Communicate with hardware and software providers to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Monitor system-generated reports to ensure proper functionality.
- Support project personnel when technical issues are encountered.
- Provide on-site training for machine control and telematics systems on domestic and international projects.
- Support a global, multi-tier training program for end users and construction management.
- Leverage technology, including e-Learning and social media, in creating training programs.
- Ensure all firmware and software on equipment is kept current.
- Assist supervisors with implementing cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices.
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new and emerging technologies.
- Support the Bechtel Machine Control Operations Center of Excellence in Sugar Land, TX.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of work performed meets all requirements.
- Enforce established policies, procedures, and work rules.

What We're Looking For
- An engineering or technical degree and 3 years of experience in heavy construction, with direct installation and troubleshooting experience with Machine Control Systems and Telematics.
- OR, 6 years of equivalent experience in heavy construction with the same technical focus in lieu of a degree.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Mechanical skills and the ability to work with machine control and telematics hardware.
- Exceptional low-voltage electronic and wiring skills for system installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions related to heavy construction, field & office machine control operations, and engine-driven/non-engine-driven telematics.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment and build effective relationships with construction teams, other departments, contractors, and management.
- Strong communication skills for motivating team members and presenting plans clearly.
- Self-starter capable of setting standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Experience working with multiple Equipment, Machine Control, and Telematics OEMs.
- Experience resolving issues with dissatisfied customers and improving internal processes.
- Proficiency in utilizing machine control and telematics software and firmware.
- Hands-on experience with machine control and telematics technologies, including: Telematic API feeds, CAN bus systems, low voltage connections, GNSS, Laser, Robotic UTS, and 2D/3D systems.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $91,000 - $138,800 annually. Final compensation is determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.
