GE HealthCare is hiring a Compute Services Reliability Engineer

About the Role

GE HealthCare is looking for a Compute Services Reliability Engineer to support the technical build and operational delivery of GE Aerospace’s enterprise compute infrastructure. In this role, you’ll partner with suppliers to manage the compute footprint across Data Centers and sites, ensuring the reliability of virtualized environments, containerized workloads, and physical servers.

What You'll Do

  • Manage technical operations of compute services and infrastructure for GE Aerospace.
  • Act as a point of escalation and support with technical partners and suppliers for ongoing operational support, transitions, and updates related to compute services.
  • Continuously optimize compute infrastructure to ensure cost-effectiveness, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain automation frameworks to improve system reliability and reduce manual intervention.
  • Provide technical delivery and support across a range of infrastructure components and services including Windows, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Replication, VMware, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Lead level 3 incident response efforts by quickly diagnosing root cause, coordinating with teams to mitigate issues, and documenting post-incident analysis.
  • Support managed services teams with upgrading, patching, and maintenance of compute software/hardware.
  • Partner with Cyber Security to ensure vulnerability management is operationally effective for compute services.
  • Help reduce and remove GE Aerospace EoS/EoL (tech debt) strategy for compute technologies.
  • Investigate complex system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Support evaluation of emerging compute technologies, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support.
  • Help build future infrastructure and compute services for sites and CoLo services.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in compute services, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure.
  • Recent experience supporting enterprise-grade compute infrastructure.
  • Experience managing compute infrastructure solutions and implementing SRE practices.
  • Experience communicating across multiple stakeholder levels, including suppliers and leadership.
  • Willing to travel as required.

Nice to Have

  • Able to analyze, diagnose, and resolve deep technical compute challenges related to infrastructure-based technologies.
  • Technical tenacity with an intense focus on resolving technical roadblocks.
  • Automation-first technical thinker with a desire to improve processes and adopt common technical best-fit practices.
  • Experience with cloud compute services such as AWS EC2 or Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Ability to learn legacy and new technologies across compute services.
  • Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks, and benefits.
  • Meets with project leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like NewRelic, VROPS or Splunk.
  • High Say/Do Ratio.
  • Able to influence multiple levels of technical stakeholders to deliver advantageous outcomes.
