PowerLines is hiring a Communications Associate to support core communications workstreams. As the first full-time communications hire, you will play a critical role in shaping the trajectory of the national energy affordability conversation and PowerLines’ communications moving forward.
What You'll Do
- Provide logistical support for reporter and multimedia partnerships, managing relationships, updating contacts, and scheduling.
- Manage internal trackers for communications hits, media clips, and external media pieces.
- Assist with developing pitches to various media outlets.
- Attend relevant events and conferences.
- Support drafting press releases and copy for websites, newsletters, blogs, and reports.
- Evaluate trends in national and local media coverage and social discourse regarding rising utility bills.
- Produce research memos and prep materials to support media interviews.
- Support planning, research, and implementation of multimedia efforts including video and audio content.
- Develop weekly internal reports on utility bills coverage.
- Develop and manage social media content and editorial calendars.
- Lead development of social and digital media posts and toolkits.
- Support identification of stories from energy consumers impacted by rising bills.
- Monitor social media trends, analytics, and audience insights to refine strategies.
- Coordinate digital campaigns around key announcements, events, and launches.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and trackers.
- Proficiency in drafting clear copy for various formats and audiences.
- Ability to analyze media trends and social media discourse.
- Experience with social media management and content calendar development.
- Capability to support multimedia content production and partnership logistics.
Team & Environment
This position is the first full-time communications hire and reports to the Founder and Executive Director.
Work Mode
This is a hybrid role based in Washington, DC.
