Role Overview
As Commercial Manager - Environment, you will lead commercial strategy and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle within the Environment Business Unit. Reporting to the Assistant Commercial Director, you will ensure that bids and projects are financially sound, contractually strong, and aligned with organizational objectives. Your expertise will help drive performance, mitigate risk, and support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage proactively with clients and internal teams to enhance service quality and improve financial and operational outcomes year over year.
- Deliver targeted commercial and risk guidance for bids and active projects, supporting optimal performance across the Environment Business Unit and broader E+E business line.
- Build strong working relationships with leadership across Commercial, Legal, Sales, Finance, Operations, ORM, and Risk Committees, both regionally and across other UK business lines.
- Support project leadership, market sector teams, and business development initiatives with functional commercial insight.
- Mentor junior commercial staff and contribute to the development of Capture Managers, Project Managers, and delivery teams.
- Design and implement commercial strategies for bids, leading contract negotiations and escalating complex matters as needed.
- Review and assess pricing, qualifications, and project execution plans in collaboration with bid teams.
- Advance business improvement efforts within commercial and operations functions.
- Ensure strict adherence to Delegations of Authority (DoA), guiding teams on proper approvals and documentation.
- Support risk committee submissions and presentations to governance bodies, including the E+E GNG Board and regional risk panels.
- Deliver training content for graduate programs and ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Demonstrate active leadership in safety, quality assurance, and ethical conduct across all activities.
