Braze is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join its growing legal team. In this role, you will provide legal advice and support to company executives and cross-functional sales and procurement teams. You will work closely with the Head of Commercial Legal in a fast-paced, dynamic tech environment.
What You'll Do
- Negotiate and draft sales and procurement agreements, such as master agreements, statements of work, vendor contracts, licensing agreements, and marketing agreements.
- Draft new templates as needed and continually improve and maintain existing templates.
- Create and lead legal training for cross-functional teams, especially the Sales team.
- Work with the Legal Operations team to build scalability, contracting efficiencies, and best practices.
- Support cross-functional executives and teams from Sales, Product, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing by identifying and mitigating legal issues for the ongoing commercialization of Turing’s business offering.
- Shape and improve our legal processes that enable both legal and business functions to scale effectively.
- Assist with other legal matters on an as-needed basis, including advising internal teams on legal and regulatory compliance matters, such as data protection, privacy, and intellectual property issues.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience as a licensed attorney working in-house and/or at a law firm.
- At least 2+ years of experience focused on commercial contracting.
- Active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar association or international equivalent.
- Pragmatic, collaborative, and creative legal thinker with excellent judgment and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
- Excellent communication, writing, and persuasion skills.
- Self-starter with strong organization and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that challenges conventional wisdom while maintaining the highest standards for legal and ethical compliance.
- Ability and willingness to routinely support team members and clients located in the Pacific time zone.
Nice to Have
- Experience in advising companies operating in the technology, SaaS, AI, and/or professional services industry.
