Mass General Brigham’s McLean Hospital is seeking a Community Residence Counselor (CRC) to provide direct patient care and participate in the therapeutic milieu under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Charge Nurse. This role is integral to supporting our mission of exceptional patient care, research, and community service.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with current treatment plans.
- Provide and supervise community activities, which may include driving and transporting patients in hospital vehicles.
- Remain awake and alert at all times while on duty.
- Assist patients in maintaining and keeping various appointments.
- Complete clear, concise, and timely documentation and shift notes.
- Establish helpful relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Participate in patient rounds, status checks, or teams per program guidelines.
- Complete assigned patient care tasks per program guidelines and daily assignment sheets.
- Work effectively to manage the therapeutic milieu.
- Provide patients with direction and supervision as needed.
- Follow established hospital and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Communicate information regarding the patient milieu and environment to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Communicate observations related to medication side effects and physical and emotional changes to appropriate medical staff.
- Encourage patients in their activities of daily living.
- Assess sleep patterns and assist patients to develop more appropriate sleep cycles, notifying the clinical team as necessary.
- Complete mandatory annual in-service requirements, including CPR and de-escalation training.
- Attend and participate in rounds and case conferences when appropriate.
- Maintain physical ability for participation in patient activities.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Medication Administration Program Certified (MAP) – Massachusetts Department of Public Health
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study
- One to two years of patient care or related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting
Technical Stack
- Basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic systems (like PRISM) for communication and clinical purposes
- Familiarity with Epic preferred
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Charge Nurse, providing crucial support within a collaborative clinical team.
