Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Coder Certified (Remote) - Surgery to ensure accurate medical record documentation and billing for surgical services. You will play a key role in reviewing patient records and serving as a lead resource for the coding team.
What You'll Do
- Review medical record documentation to identify all pertinent facts necessary for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures.
- Code evaluation and management to the appropriate CPT code and code diagnoses to the appropriate ICD-9 code.
- Meet with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding issues, secure signatures, and tag files for follow-up.
- Act as a lead person and assist coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
- Assist with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
- Prepare case reports and initiate follow-up for the billing process.
What We're Looking For
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P); AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
Nice to Have
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
- Skills in Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, and Medical Terminology.
