University Health Network (UHN) is hiring a Clinical Research Study Assistant to join the Signals for Cardiac and Pulmonary Evaluation (SCAPE) study. This research explores wearable and digital monitoring devices to capture physiological signals in individuals with cardiovascular and/or pulmonary conditions. You’ll contribute to daily study operations, working primarily at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute's Rumsey Centre, with potential work at Toronto Western Hospital.
What You'll Do
- Screen and enroll study participants.
- Perform telephone interviews to collect basic participant data using established criteria.
- Obtain medical history, schedule appointments and tests as per study protocol, and supervise questionnaire completion.
- Perform data transcription from health records or other sources, as per approved protocol and authorized access.
- Plan and perform data entry and maintain study databases and related files with high accuracy.
- Assist with the collection of medical documents as per approved study protocol and authorized access.
- Assist with study data collection.
- Prepare and maintain research participant files and complete case report forms.
- Maintain research regulatory documentation, including assisting with REB applications and amendments, and execute study-related administrative tasks.
- Assist the study team in performing study-specific tasks.
- May assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for presentations and progress reports to stakeholders.
- Provide support for monitoring, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Provide assistance with the maintenance and modification of electronic and paper information filing and retrieval systems.
- May perform statistical analyses and generate statistical reports, status reports, and other data reports, as required.
- Perform cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- At minimum, a community college diploma in a health-related discipline, or equivalent.
- At minimum, 3 to 6 months of related experience.
- Experience with data transcription, data entry, and data visualization.
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience using MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook), SharePoint, Canva, and iOS apps required.
- Experience performing data entry, preferably with health or medical data.
- Fundamental knowledge of clinical research principles and practice, and techniques relating to data collection, management, and analysis.
- Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, such as ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, FDA CFR, and Health Canada TPD, as required.
- Aptitude in the use of health monitoring devices, including health applications.
- Client‑service oriented and effective at working within diverse teams.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and receptive to feedback.
- Exercises good judgement, initiative, tact, and professionalism.
- High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-oriented: ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines, and work with supervision.
- Exercises compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, privacy regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Nice to Have
- Clinical research experience is preferred.
- Experience with data visualization, using statistical analysis and data management software, preferred.

Work Mode
This is an onsite position based primarily at the Toronto Rehab - Rumsey Centre, with work at Toronto Western Hospital as needed.
