UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a Clinical Product Analyst to help shape the strategic direction for HealthPlaNET and related applications. This intermediate role involves operational, technical, and process analysis to meet business needs under general direction.
What You'll Do
- Define and analyze enterprise and new clinical software product business systems requirements using interviews, workshops, and use cases.
- Participate in designing and documenting system functional requirements for deliverables like RFPs and scope documents.
- Assume project management responsibility during clinical program redesign for existing programs.
- Utilize quality management principles to streamline work processes and optimize outcomes through stakeholder collaboration and system configuration.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting client needs and business processes, including current process analysis and proposed revisions.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to analyze needs and develop business, functional, and implementation requirements, use cases, and workflows.
- Provide service to Health Plan and UPMC enterprise client community while protecting data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing and validate test results to initial business needs.
- Participate in the design and documentation of system level, IS operations level, and end user level procedures.
- Identify and communicate project issues, follow process, and support competency improvement initiatives.
- Participate in onboarding and education of new team members and in interdepartmental meetings.
- Engage in all aspects of the development process including planning, review, and retrospectives and assist in creating user stories and clinical program process design.
- Provide regular status reports, create statements of work and schedules, and ensure quality, cost, and timeliness requirements are met.
- Assist ISD staff, clients, and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement packaged or custom solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, a related business field (computer science, information systems, etc.), a health care field, or comparable degree and/or experience.
- Three to six years of experience in health insurance or clinical health care (relevant experience in other industries considered).
- Prior experience in assisting with product development, understanding product requirements documents, and writing software requirements.
- Generally has three to six years of professional experience in a business analyst role or comparable experience.
- Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees.
- Serves as resource for dealing with technical or business issues.
- Applies prevention techniques to avoid repeat issues and crisis situations.
- Applies advanced knowledge in a primary discipline and working knowledge in multiple relevant disciplines.
- Operates semi-independently with direction from lead or supervisor 2-3 times per week.
- Understands and applies basic UPMC values and code of conduct.
- Interacts with others in an open, honest, collaborative, and reliable manner.
- Is visually and verbally articulate.
- Able to contribute to interactive group development sessions.
Nice to Have
- Experience and familiarity with health industry coding systems including ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS.

This position is part of the Clinical Product Analyst team under the direction of the Chief Medical Information Officer.
