UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is looking for a Clinical Product Analyst, Associate HPL to help determine the strategic direction for HealthPlaNET and related applications and services. This role uses analytical capabilities to define requirements, develop and configure applications, and provide services to meet business needs.
What You'll Do
- Perform enterprise and new clinical software product business systems requirements definition and analysis.
- Assist senior team members in gathering, clarifying, and documenting software requirements.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to analyze information needs and participate in developing business, functional, and implementation requirements.
- Provide service to Health Plan and UPMC enterprise client community, members, patients, families, and visitors while protecting data integrity and confidentiality.
- Participate in the design and documentation of system functional requirements for deliverables like RFPs, scope documents, and client communications.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting client needs and business processes, including current process analysis and proposed revisions to optimize processes.
- Assist ISD staff, clients, and vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement packaged system solutions and custom development applications.
- Assure quality of information through business case and application-level testing and validate test results to initial business needs.
- Participate in the design and documentation of system-level, IS operations-level, and end-user-level procedures.
- Engage in the development process including planning, reviews, and retrospectives and participate in creating user stories.
- Assist in clinical program process design for clinical programs.
- Provide regular status reports and participate in group meetings.
- Create project and team statements of work and schedules.
- Contribute to ensuring personal and team quality, cost, and timeliness requirements are met.
- Identify and communicate project issues.
- Effectively follow process and support competency improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the collaborative onboarding and education of new team members.
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings such as backlog grooming and development oversight.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, a related business field (computer science, information systems, etc.), health care field, or comparable degree and/or experience.
- One to three years of experience in health insurance or clinical health care (relevant experience in other industries considered).
- Generally, one to three years of professional experience in a business analyst role or comparable experience.
- Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications, and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance capabilities.
- Serves as a resource for dealing with technical or business issues.
- Applies prevention techniques to avoid repeat issues and crisis situations.
- Applies advanced knowledge in a primary discipline and working knowledge in multiple relevant disciplines to create solutions.
- Operates semi-independently with guidance from more senior Clinical Product Analysts.
- Understands and applies basic UPMC values and code of conduct and interacts openly, honestly, collaboratively, and reliably.
- Able to contribute to interactive group development sessions.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in assisting with product development, understanding product requirements documents, and writing software requirements.
- Experience and familiarity with health industry coding systems including ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS.
Team & Environment
Works under general direction of the management team and senior staff.
