Sedgwick is hiring a Claims Examiner - Liability to analyze complex and technically difficult general liability claims. In this role, you will determine benefits due, manage high-exposure claims involving litigation, and ensure adjudication aligns with service expectations and best practices. You'll be a key part of a caring culture recognized by Newsweek and Fortune.
What You'll Do
- Analyze and process complex or technically difficult general liability claims by investigating and gathering information to determine exposure.
- Manage claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution.
- Assess liability and resolve claims within evaluation.
- Negotiate settlement of claims within designated authority.
- Calculate and assign timely, appropriate reserves; manage reserve adequacy throughout the life of a claim.
- Calculate and pay benefits due; approve and make timely claim payments and adjustments.
- Support the organization's quality program(s).
- Travel as required.
What We're Looking For
- Five (5) years of Liability claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of GL product liability claims experience, with demonstrated success managing complex and high‑severity losses.
- Experience in property damage, large loss, and technically complex matters.
- Strong background in contract analysis, including indemnity and risk‑transfer evaluation.
- Significant litigation management experience, including collaboration with defense counsel and familiarity with trial processes.
- Ability to obtain a New York Adjuster License within 90 days.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
