MyFlorida's Department of Management Services seeks a Child Protective Investigator Supervisor for advanced professional work directing child protective investigators and support staff. Your primary duty will be supervising workloads and dedicating the majority of your time to communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in the critical field of child welfare.
What You'll Do
- Supervise, plan, and direct workloads, workflows, and deadlines for investigators conducting assessments of alleged abused, abandoned, neglected, or exploited children.
- Develop performance standards with investigators, provide regular coaching, acknowledge outstanding performance, and suggest areas for improvement.
- Evaluate employees against established standards and take necessary steps for corrective action.
- Promote career development by ensuring proper training and leading cross-training on differential investigative skills.
- Review casework, assessments, and safety plans with investigators to ensure appropriateness, clarity, quality, and proper documentation.
- Use management tools in information systems to monitor open cases, manage workflow, meet timelines, and prevent backlog.
- Ensure CPI operations are within legislative authority and comply with federal and state rules and regulations.
- Identify and implement improvements to ensure program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Facilitate and participate in hiring, promotion, discipline, and dismissal processes.
- Collect, analyze, and report data regarding child protective investigations.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with community providers, legal services, law enforcement, medical personnel, schools, and other agencies.
- Ensure effective communication with deaf or hard-of-hearing customers in accordance with the ADA and/or Section 504.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Four years of law enforcement experience or active military service (honorably discharged or status that current service reflects serving honorably).
- Minimum 2 years of Child Welfare Experience, with a preference for Child Protective Investigations.
- Current/Active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board.
- Valid Driver License.
- Must possess an operational private vehicle for daily work use and provide proof of vehicle registration and appropriate insurance.
