The Department of the Navy is hiring a Child and Youth Program Operations Clerk to perform a combination of administrative duties supporting one or more components of the Child and Youth Program (CYP). In this role, you will be responsible for critical record keeping, reporting, liaising with families and programs, and monitoring fees and supplies.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and maintain assigned reports, correspondence, and statistical and financial data pertaining to CYP components like CDC, CDH, SAC, YP, R&R, and USDA.
- Ensure child registration and enrollment paperwork is complete and current.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date USDA food program records.
- Review and submit completed paperwork for background checks.
- Maintain office files and records, providing required information to agencies such as Family Advocacy and Naval Investigative Services.
- Prepare and submit necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reports in a timely manner.
- Conduct research of records to resolve discrepancies and notify supervisor of any unresolved issues.
- Provide front desk coverage, log children in and out, and answer questions about programs, fees, waiting lists, and policies.
- Assist with disseminating information to CDH providers regarding training, certification, and USDA requirements.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and refer calls as appropriate.
- Perform resource and referral duties and assist in maintaining a current waiting list.
- Collect fees and charges, record payments, and notify supervisor of delinquent payments.
- Complete a daily activity report and ensure proper deposit of funds.
- Monitor all supplies and resources, notifying the supervisor of items needing to be ordered.
- Serve as a mandatory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services in suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of administrative support functions and general office automation software, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of military Child Development Center (CDC), Child Development Home (CDH), School Age Care (SAC), Youth Programs (YP), Recreation & Recreation (R&R), and USDA Food Programs.
- Ability to maintain a computerized database.
- Working knowledge of computer keyboard and the Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) or an equivalent database system.
- Ability to maintain accurate reports, records, and military style documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in cash handling.
- Two (2) years of administrative experience.
- Must provide a copy of your H.S. Diploma, GED, or College Transcripts.
