Walrus Foundation is hiring a Chief of Staff

About the Role

The Walrus Foundation is looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director. You will drive operational effectiveness, internal coordination, and leadership support across the foundation, playing a central role in empowering Web3 builders through decentralized storage infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Design and lead regular team meetings, daily standups, and internal check-ins.
  • Create and manage systems for project tracking, OKRs, and cross-team accountability.
  • Ensure Slack, Notion, and other internal tools are organized, up to date, and useful.
  • Oversee progress toward deliverables and keep stakeholders aligned and on track.
  • Drive improvements to internal processes and workflows, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain visibility into all active initiatives across teams.
  • Support coordination between technical, program, and leadership functions.
  • Hire and manage project or program managers as the organization grows.
  • Design the content of internal planning sessions, offsites, and away days and in some cases lead these sessions.
  • Act as a sounding board to the Managing Director on business operations and team dynamics.
  • Surface risks, blind spots, and missed opportunities before they escalate.
  • Contribute to leadership planning and suggest improvements in structure and communications.
  • Be a reliable thought partner who can step in when priorities shift or challenges arise.
  • Assist with communication across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare materials or facilitate discussions that help keep teams and partners aligned.
  • Help identify areas where teams need clarity, resources, or accountability.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong background in project and program management, with experience in consulting or agency practices.
  • Experience in startup environments helpful to demonstrate an understanding of perfect is the enemy of good, but judgement in what does need to be high calibre and what can evolve over time is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects on tight timelines.
  • High emotional intelligence and confident interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable stepping into a range of responsibilities—from running meetings to unblocking teams.
  • Excellent organizational habits and attention to detail.
  • Experience with planning frameworks like OKRs and KPIs and common tools like Slack, Notion, and dashboards.
  • Experience of communicating and managing many different stakeholders, at different levels, all with different priorities and calls on their attention.
  • Ability to put together good looking and thoughtful presentations and documents quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Web3, crypto, or open-source ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with team operations, leadership planning, and internal tooling design.
