Bachem is hiring a Chemist - Downstream Specialist to play a pivotal role in launching our new Sisslerfeld site. You will be the technical expert responsible for establishing and commissioning downstream API manufacturing processes from the ground up, ensuring GMP compliance and supporting the entire facility planning phase in a dynamic, fast-growing environment focused on innovation.
What You'll Do
- Take technical responsibility for establishing and commissioning downstream processes for API manufacturing at the new site.
- Support the planning and design of equipment and production areas.
- Create specifications and technical concepts.
- Develop and implement GMP-compliant downstream processes.
- Create and review technical documents, SOPs, and risk analyses.
- Work closely with TechOps, Engineering, QA, and project management teams.
- Support authority inspections and customer audits during the setup and commissioning phase.
What We're Looking For
- A completed PhD in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in downstream processing of APIs within a GMP-regulated environment.
- Knowledge of chemical process engineering, plant design, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ICH Q7, FDA, EMA).
- A strong affinity for technical issues.
- Experience in handling process control systems and creating recipes.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Very good spoken and written German and English language skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge in the field of Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS) is desirable.
- Experience in establishing or expanding production sites is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of preparative chromatography, freeze-drying, and spray-drying.
