About the Role

The California Independent System Operator (California ISO) is hiring a Change and Release Planner - ITSM Specialist. In this role, you will report to the manager and be responsible for administering and supporting IT infrastructure Change, Configuration, and Release (CCR) management processes. You will develop and maintain CCR controls, traceability, compliance, and reporting.

What You'll Do

  • Establish and maintain configuration and release management records and perform periodic audits.
  • Assist audit teams in identifying and locating production CCR records.
  • Ensure CCR requests are complete, including impact statements, deployment instructions, and recovery plans.
  • Ensure proper execution of CCR Management policies and procedures and promote process consistency.
  • Analyze data, make recommendations for improvements to policies and procedures, and prepare reports.
  • Provide CCR Management training to all impacted staff.
  • Track and control CCRs for IT infrastructure and provide accurate status, configuration, release, and relational data.
  • Identify and validate requirements for the Configuration Management database (CMDB).
  • Execute changes to the CMDB in a back-up capacity for the asset and configuration team.
  • Partner with the problem and incident team on change-related issues and provide post-incident support.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent years of education and training, plus two (2) or more years of related experience.
  • Experience in change management, configuration management, release management, and document control.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills with a demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to use deductive reasoning and analytical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic and changing work environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as a facilitator and team member.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively document and convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong skills in presenting and interacting with internal and external clients.

Nice to Have

  • ITIL Practice certification.
  • Experience working with the ITIL framework, systems administration, databases, Qualys, or Tripwire.
  • Experience in training.
  • Experience with ServiceNow.
