Lead Data Platform Engineer
This role is responsible for shaping and maintaining a modern data platform that securely supports both human and AI-driven data consumption. Working primarily within Snowflake and dbt, the engineer will design systems that prioritize security, scalability, and long-term maintainability, enabling reliable access across the organization.
Data Platform & AI Enablement
Design data models, metadata frameworks, and access patterns that support natural language queries and AI-assisted analysis. Establish foundational data structures that deliver consistent, timely, and trustworthy outputs for AI systems. Ensure all automated access occurs through governed service accounts with role-scoped permissions, aligned with enterprise data classification and audit requirements.
Security, Access & Identity Governance
Architect and enforce role-based access controls in Snowflake, including row- and column-level security, ensuring alignment with enterprise identity and access management (IAM) standards. Implement technical controls that reflect approved policies, integrating with SSO and SCIM for automated provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reviews. Build governance into the platform so compliance is structural, not procedural.
Operational Excellence & Platform Leadership
Develop CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and deployment patterns for dbt and Snowflake to ensure accuracy by default. Define platform standards, templates, and reusable components that increase team velocity without compromising quality. Reduce manual intervention by creating automated guardrails and scalable systems. Lead Snowflake resource governance, cost optimization, and performance tuning to improve efficiency and reduce overhead.
Collaboration & Technical Strategy
Partner with Data Operations, Security, Compliance, IT, and Cloud Engineering teams to align data infrastructure with enterprise cloud security baselines, network segmentation, and governance policies. Support access reviews and control validation with clear separation between policy, approval, and implementation. Act as a technical advisor across data initiatives, promoting reuse, reliability, and responsible innovation.
