Vaughan Regional Medical Center / ScionHealth is looking for a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our care team. In this vital role, you will assist professional nursing personnel in providing patient care by attending to daily needs, offering emotional support, and performing clinical skills in a supportive environment.
What You'll Do
- Consult with and inform your supervisor of unit activities, needs, and issues related to patient care.
- Provide general nursing care including patient positioning, turning, ambulating, pre- and post-operative care, and personal hygiene assistance.
- Take and accurately record vital signs, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements, documenting in a timely manner.
- Prepare patient rooms for admission and transfers, ensuring all necessary equipment is present and maintaining a clean, comfortable environment.
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling personal belongings.
- Respond to patient call lights, telephone calls, and pages appropriately.
- Perform routine treatment procedures such as enemas and hot/cold applications under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Properly apply, remove, and reapply patient restraints as directed by an RN, ensuring proper patient positioning.
- Assist RNs and LVN/LPNs with more complex patient treatment procedures.
- Serve and remove patient meal trays promptly and assist with feeding as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- A record of good and regular attendance.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities, and function under stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships within and across departments.
- Completion of a nursing assistant course.
- Current Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Current BLS Certification.
- A minimum of six months’ experience in an acute or long-term care facility.
