About the Role

Bourns, Inc. is looking for a Buyer Planner to join our team in Heredia, Costa Rica. In this role, you will be responsible for securing materials required by various departments through supplier research, development, and negotiation. You will apply internal policies regarding cost, service, quality, and transportation to achieve our organizational objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the purchasing process through different types of input: customer demand, purchase requisitions, requests for new material or supplier, and customer-directed purchasing requests.
  • Create purchase orders in SAP, including product specifications, supplier information, payment terms, company standards, quantities, and prices.
  • Execute differentiated searches for alternatives to achieve optimal purchasing costs, considering both price and transportation.
  • Conduct various types of negotiations with suppliers.
  • Manage the purchasing process through BOM or ROP to coordinate purchase requirements for orders in a timely manner.
  • Incorporate purchase orders into SAP to receive products and process payment, tracking them from generation to receipt and providing feedback to the customer.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with all requirements established by the organization, including drawings, purchase order specifications, customer requirements, and legal requirements.
  • Establish with the quality control department verification of incoming materials to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Constantly coordinate with the planning area and other key areas regarding compliance with purchasing requirements to provide the best customer service for delivery times.
  • Complete documents required to control the process and improve management in the purchase of materials, items, and components.
  • Verify, ensure, and examine optimal inventory levels of raw materials, components, and supplies to determine existing and necessary stocks for production.
  • Escalate issues to your immediate supervisor, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and/or Technical Services when problems arise or support is required.
  • Follow up on established procedures in a timely manner, ensuring customer and organizational requirements are met.
  • Perform any other duties and/or activities related to the position assigned by your immediate supervisor.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position.
  • 3+ years of experience in similar responsibilities.
  • B2 level proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of Office and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and plan time, generate initiative, anticipate events, and make sound decisions.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP purchasing and inventory modules.
  • Knowledge and application of ISO standards.

Team & Environment

You will report to your immediate supervisor and coordinate closely with planning, manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure purchasing requirements are met.
