BECU is hiring a BSA/AML Investigator I

BECU seeks a BSA/AML Investigator I to help protect our institution and its members by identifying potential money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime risks. You will contribute to investigations and regulatory compliance in a purpose-driven, member-focused organization dedicated to serving communities.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and review transactions and account behavior to determine alignment with member profiles and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Conduct internal examinations, investigations, and inspections to confirm adherence to BECU procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate alerts, prepare case summaries, and document recommendations for potential Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) within required timeframes.
• Compile relevant documents—such as statements, checks, and deposits—to support investigative conclusions and SAR recommendations.
• Partner with the Due Diligence team to identify high-risk members, products, and services and assist in implementing monitoring controls.
• Assist in evaluating and documenting de-risking actions for members who violate Membership Agreements or engage in financial crimes.
• Provide guidance to business units on their responsibilities under BSA/AML/CFT requirements and help them identify and escalate potential concerns.
• Review industry trends and new business types to identify potential threats to the credit union and provide recommendations for mitigation.
• Inform Program leadership of notable changes in member behavior that may indicate financial crime or heightened risk.
• Assist with implementing new or updated procedures in response to changes in laws, regulations, or due diligence expectations.
• Provide appropriate information to law enforcement agencies regarding SAR-related or BSA-related requests.
• Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the BSA/AML/CFT Program.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work or educational experience.
• 5 years of BSA/AML, bank audit, compliance or banking operations experience.
• 3 years of experience in financial crime investigations required.
• CAMS Certification, ACFCS Certification, or continuing education towards certification required.
• Solid understanding of BSA/AML/CFT/OFAC related regulations and practical application required.
• Organizational, analytical, and investigative skills required.
• Ability to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify solutions required.
• Skills in interviewing and interrogation, leadership and negotiation required.

Nice to Have

• Formal training in interviewing and interrogation techniques preferred.
• Previous experience or training in criminal investigations preferred.

Team & Environment

You will collaborate with partners across the organization including Due Diligence, Compliance, Operations, and law enforcement, reporting to Program leadership.

Benefits & Compensation

• Target Pay Range: $38.56-$47.02 hourly. Full Pay Range: $30.00-$55.63 hourly.
