About the Role
The role involves leading the development and validation of body structure components, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of body structure systems for vehicle programs
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to align technical specifications
- Ensure body components meet safety, durability, and regulatory standards
- Support prototype build activities and validation testing
- Drive resolution of structural issues during product development phases
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design for assembly
- Conduct design reviews and lead technical problem-solving sessions
- Manage component interfaces with other vehicle systems
- Apply simulation results to optimize structural performance
- Support tooling and process development for body assembly
- Monitor production launch and resolve early manufacturing defects
- Ensure compliance with corporate engineering processes and methodologies
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for design records
- Interface with suppliers on component design and quality requirements
- Participate in cross-functional design and release meetings
- Evaluate new materials and technologies for body structure applications
- Support cost reduction initiatives without compromising structural integrity
- Track and report on engineering change orders and design maturity
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and development milestones
- Utilize CAD tools for 3D modeling and design validation
- Promote lightweight design strategies while maintaining performance
- Coordinate testing requirements with validation teams
- Address customer concerns related to body structure performance
- Support global vehicle programs with localized engineering input
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations
