Pennant Services is seeking a Billing Specialist to manage the accurate and timely submission of all Medi-Cal billing, collections, and accounts receivable functions. You will ensure reimbursement through efficient operations and effective A/R management, supporting independent operating subsidiaries from our centralized Service Center.
What You'll Do
- Provide oversight and approval of claims, audits, and processing, conducting final billing audits.
- Maintain billing and patient accounts systems in compliance with GAAP, state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of payer contracts and bill according to provisions, resolving conflicts on behalf of the agency.
- Advise management on accepting or declining problematic payers.
- Serve as a resource on government billing regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Monitor aged accounts receivable, resubmit bills, manage collections, and prepare bad debt reports.
- Gather, collate, and report key billing information and strategize goals with the Executive Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to reconcile billing system reports with the general ledger.
- Reconcile Medicare quarterly reports and prepare the annual Medicare cost report for review.
- Supervise the use of the billing information system and maintain working knowledge of upgrades.
- Supervise and reconcile cash receipts and bank deposits per policy.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, payers, and referral sources.
- Protect the confidentiality of patient and agency information through effective controls and supervision.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least three years’ experience in health care billing and collections management.
- Billing information systems knowledge.
- Knowledge of corporate business management, governmental regulations, and Joint Commission standards.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with good communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
- Demonstrated capability to accurately manage detailed information.
- Able to deal tactfully with patients, family members, referral sources, and payers.
- Demonstrates autonomy, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience preferably in home care operations.
