Tutor Me Education is seeking a Bilingual Spanish Neurodiverse Learning Support Tutor to provide personalized, one-on-one instruction to students with special needs in their homes. You will deliver tailored support aligned with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP), helping them build foundational academic skills and confidence.
What You'll Do
- Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including guided reading, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension strategies.
- Support reading fluency through repetition, modeling, and structured reading activities.
- Reinforce comprehension skills such as identifying the main idea, sequencing events, and answering guided questions.
- Deliver foundational math instruction focusing on number recognition, counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Use visual supports such as number lines, manipulatives, and step-by-step modeling to support math understanding.
- Provide handwriting instruction, including letter formation, spacing, and basic writing organization.
- Implement occupational therapy–informed strategies or adaptive tools (e.g., pencil grips, lined paper) to support handwriting development.
- Create structured, engaging sessions with clear routines and expectations.
- Incorporate scheduled breaks, movement, and preferred interests (e.g., movies, video games) to maintain focus and regulation.
- Develop and implement skill-building activities aligned with the student’s IEP goals.
- Provide encouragement, positive reinforcement, and consistent redirection to support engagement and confidence.
- Share progress updates with caregivers as appropriate.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with students with autism and other neurodiverse learning needs.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Background supporting foundational literacy skills, including reading fluency and comprehension.
- Strong understanding of foundational math instruction, including number recognition, counting, and basic operations.
- Experience supporting handwriting development and early writing skills.
- Familiarity with IEP-based instruction and working with students receiving Special Education and Resource Specialist Program (RSP) services.
- Skilled in using visual supports, manipulatives, and structured teaching strategies.
- Patient, engaging, and able to provide frequent redirection and positive reinforcement.
- Creative in incorporating movement and preferred interests into learning activities.
- Tutoring or special education support experience.
