RE/SPEC Inc. is hiring a contractor BI Developer to support a public sector partner by administering, developing, and maintaining sophisticated reporting and analytics solutions. This is a hands-on, highly technical role with a strong focus on Google Looker (LookML) and SQL Server.

What You'll Do

Administer, develop, and maintain Google Looker, including user administration, models, dashboards, and user attributes.
Perform LookML development, dashboard design, and create effective visualizations.
Build simple and complex Looks, create merge queries, and tune performance.
Create and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports.
Develop and maintain SQL Server objects and logic, including T-SQL, views, CTEs, functions, and stored procedures.
Create SQL processes and scripts to move and transform data between data marts.
Perform data analysis and validation for quality and completeness.
Validate data marts and dashboards against source systems.
Implement and document business rules and processes.
Create and execute test cases for data and reporting requirements.
Troubleshoot data, dashboard, and reporting issues and respond to investigation requests.
Elicit and document requirements for data marts, dashboards, and reporting.
Create technical and end-user documentation and train users on Looker capabilities and best practices.
Apply appropriate handling of sensitive data, including recognizing and masking PII.
Take on team leadership activities as needed, such as mentoring, task assignment, code reviews, and prioritization.

What We're Looking For

Strong SQL Server skills: SQL/T-SQL, views, CTEs, functions, and stored procedures.
Strong Google Looker experience, including LookML modeling.
Experience with Google Looker tool administration and user attributes.
Proven ability in Google Looker dashboard design and correct visualization selection.
Experience with Google Looker merge queries and performance tuning.
Ability to train both technical and non-technical users.
Experience creating and maintaining SSRS reports.
Strong data analysis skills for business rules, validation, testing, and data completeness.
Proven troubleshooting and root-cause analysis ability.
Excellent communication skills for translating business needs into technical requirements and explaining technical concepts clearly.
Detail-oriented, self-directed, quick to learn new systems, and team-oriented.
