Zurich Canada is hiring an AVP, Head of Procurement to lead the successful transition, transformation, and day-to-day management of procurement activities for the Canadian market. You will be the key liaison with a BPO supplier organization while building and maintaining excellent relationships with local executives to align procurement strategy with business and functional objectives.
What You'll Do
- Provide support for the finalization and agreement of category management savings plans.
- Ensure execution of category management savings plans and increase managed spend, providing visibility into progress and resolving escalated issues promptly.
- Manage country savings commitments as defined in the business case.
- Collaborate with business units to understand, manage, and achieve savings commitments.
- Serve as the Procurement & Supply Management (PSCM) Manager for Canada, fostering relationships with business units to maximize savings and value from the BPO arrangement.
- Ensure compliance, performance, planning, and category management are optimized, resolving escalations and removing roadblocks to performance targets.
- Translate business objectives into defined business cases, costs, or schedules to support business plans and effective supplier management.
- Deliver project, program, and change management initiatives, leading project teams to implement sourcing/procurement objectives within allocated resources and timelines (typically less than one year).
- Monitor consistent non-compliance issues escalated by team members and highlight patterns for senior team review.
- Work with colleagues in Legal, Risk, and other functions to improve sourcing governance frameworks and ensure regulatory and legal compliance obligations are met.
- Evaluate complex customer issues and analyze data from various sources to develop bespoke technical solutions and robust supplier account plans.
- Lead the implementation of system and process improvements, contribute to sourcing/procurement strategy development, and manage performance to achieve business objectives.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers to ensure satisfaction with sourcing services and take action when service standards fall below expectations.
- Develop and manage ongoing relationships with key stakeholders to identify and deliver mutually beneficial solutions.
- Lead key parts of substantial sourcing deals, negotiate directly with suppliers, and lead operational procurement teams locally to ensure value for money and service levels.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of experience in Procurement.
- OR a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in Procurement.
Nice to Have
- An externally focused influencer, skilled in negotiating and collaborating with external contacts and peer-level clients.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the SVP Chief Transformation Officer.

- Salary range: $95,000 – $145,000
