Fives Stein (Steel & Glass division) is looking for an Automation Engineer Intern (F/H) for a final-year internship. In this role, you will ensure the design and follow-up of automation studies for new machining or composite machines. You will be responsible for monitoring equipment programming and will participate in machine commissioning.
What You'll Do
- Analyze project input data (part drawings, budget and allocated hours, deadlines and milestones)
- Participate in component selection (sensors, PLCs, HMIs, drives, robots, etc.)
- Collaborate with the Electrical Study Engineer to validate the electrical design
- Conduct the automation study (hardware architecture, functional analysis)
- Participate in design reviews and the creation of functional diagrams with all trades
- Develop programs for the PLC / CNC / robot and the HMI and define cycles through functional analysis
- Deploy industrial networks (Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus)
- Participate in machine commissioning, supported by a Senior Automation / Commissioning Engineer, in our workshop and on customer sites
- Prepare the machine user manual
- Adhere to defined machine safety rules
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bac + 4/5 general engineering degree with a focus on automation / industrial computing
- Seeking a final-year engineering internship in an Automation Design Office
- Hands-on industrial field experience (commissioning)
