Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is hiring an Associate Lab / Teamsters JH to manage the first steps of the laboratory workflow. In this role, you will receive, prepare, and process specimens delivered to the lab, ensuring accuracy and efficiency for proper patient testing and billing. You will be a key part of maintaining smooth lab operations.
What You'll Do
- Register patients and perform accurate test order entry into the laboratory information system.
- Verify specimen identification and prepare/process specimens according to department procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and stock adequate supplies for efficient lab operations.
- Provide support by answering telephones, faxing reports, and managing send-outs.
- Mentor Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) students in specimen processing using AHN policies.
- Order, perform, and result waived testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Nice to Have
- Graduate of a medical assistant program or a phlebotomy program with a corresponding certificate.
