Responsibilities
- Independently review, draft, and negotiate retail lease agreements, lease amendments, and related documents, including subordination & non-disturbance agreements, estoppel certificates, and commencement date agreements.
- Manage lease related activities including responding to landlord requests, analyzing lease notices, and advising on lease enforcement issues.
- Lead due diligence reviews of lease documents and real estate agreements for new and existing studio locations.
- Partner closely with real estate, construction, facilities management, and operations teams to proactively identify and resolve lease and real estate matters.
- Take on leadership responsibilities within cross-functional legal projects and initiatives, and serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial real estate experience from a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Deep knowledge of commercial leasing principles, landlord-tenant law, and retail real estate transactions.
- Proven ability to independently manage a high-volume workload, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong business judgment and the ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice to non-legal partners.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across functions and seniority levels.
- J.D. degree and member in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.
