Mapbox is hiring an Associate General Counsel - Product/Commercial

Mapbox is hiring an Associate General Counsel to provide legal support for complex commercial deals and product counseling. As a senior individual contributor, you will draft agreements, develop practical solutions, and improve operational processes within our small, collaborative legal team.

What You'll Do

• Handle a wide variety of legal projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Work on complex data in-licenses, customer sales, and automotive OEM deals.
• Provide product counseling, working closely with product and engineering colleagues.
• Draft and negotiate agreements based on customers' specific use cases and technical implementations.
• Own commercial deals end-to-end, developing the ability to both mitigate and accept risk.
• Continuously improve operational processes and update forms to scale the legal organization.
• Dive into a variety of legal issues, collaborate, and take feedback.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of practicing attorney experience.
• 2+ years at a top-tier law firm in any area.
• 5+ years in-house at a technology company in sales-side commercial transactions.
• JD degree from a top-tier law school.
• Active membership in at least one US state bar.
• Excellent, clear, and concise drafting and communication skills.
• A practical and customer-centric orientation and negotiation style.
• A sense of humor.

Nice to Have

• At least one of the following: a computer engineering, computer science, or similar technical degree; 2-4 years experience in software patent litigation or prosecution at a top-tier firm; extensive experience working with APIs and SDKs; experience working on complex sales deals.
• Prior work in a pre-IPO company.
• Candidates in the Pacific time zone.

You will join a small and collaborative legal team in a flat organization. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

• Compensation range: $220,000 - $292,200 for most US locations (5-10% higher for higher cost of labor locations).
