Simon & Schuster is looking for a creative and driven Associate Editor to join our editorial team at Adams Media. In this role, you will be a key innovator and product developer, responsible for acquiring and shaping compelling nonfiction content that resonates with readers.

What You'll Do

  • Pitch projects to the Publishing Board and collaborate with the team to hone each project's overall vision.
  • Conduct extensive market and audience research to justify and direct acquisitions.
  • Identify and contract the right content expert to author in-house developed ideas.
  • Learn and follow internal processes while completing necessary project documentation.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects in different stages of the editorial process, following each from idea generation to publication.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of editorial, marketing, or product development experience, preferably in trade book publishing.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a creative self-starter who thrives in a collaborative setting.
  • Must be sales and marketplace-driven, with a keen eye for commercial potential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with social listening and media monitoring tools.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
