Simon & Schuster is looking for a creative and driven Associate Editor to join our editorial team at Adams Media. In this role, you will be a key innovator and product developer, responsible for acquiring and shaping compelling nonfiction content that resonates with readers.
What You'll Do
- Pitch projects to the Publishing Board and collaborate with the team to hone each project's overall vision.
- Conduct extensive market and audience research to justify and direct acquisitions.
- Identify and contract the right content expert to author in-house developed ideas.
- Learn and follow internal processes while completing necessary project documentation.
- Successfully manage multiple projects in different stages of the editorial process, following each from idea generation to publication.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of editorial, marketing, or product development experience, preferably in trade book publishing.
- Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a creative self-starter who thrives in a collaborative setting.
- Must be sales and marketplace-driven, with a keen eye for commercial potential.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
