About the Role
This role leads civil engineering efforts for data centre developments, managing design teams, client relationships, and project execution from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering design for large-scale data centre projects
- Manage technical quality and accuracy of engineering deliverables
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and structural teams
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Oversee site development, grading, drainage, and utility systems
- Prepare and review civil drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Support project scheduling and budget management
- Lead client meetings and present engineering solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Conduct site visits and construction administration
- Integrate sustainability practices into civil design
- Manage external consultants and subcontractors
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards
- Develop and maintain engineering standards and processes
- Support business development and proposal efforts
- Collaborate with project managers on delivery timelines
- Review and approve submittals from contractors
- Address field changes and construction challenges
- Maintain familiarity with data centre infrastructure requirements
- Promote innovation in site design and stormwater management
- Ensure designs support high availability and redundancy
- Work within fast-track project schedules
- Coordinate with permitting agencies
- Support risk assessment and mitigation planning
- Ensure designs meet seismic and environmental criteria
