MinterEllison is seeking an Associate to join our market-leading Indirect Tax team in Sydney. You will work alongside our partners on a variety of challenging matters, including major M&A transactions, GST compliance reviews, infrastructure projects, and state tax advisory work. This role offers significant exposure to complex technical issues and direct client interaction, with the chance to develop your skills across both GST and state taxes.
What You'll Do
- Work on major M&A transactions, GST compliance reviews, major infrastructure projects and state tax advisory work.
- Manage GST audits, investigations and objections.
- Advise on cross-border transactions.
- Provide strategic guidance on stamp duty, land tax and infrastructure contribution matters.
- Deliver innovative solutions to clients and contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice.
What We're Looking For
- 2-5 years' post-admission experience (or equivalent) in taxation law.
- Strong technical knowledge of GST legislation and state tax laws, including stamp duty and land tax.
- Demonstrated experience in GST advisory work, compliance or dispute resolution.
- Excellent legal research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear legal advice to clients.
- Proven ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy.
- A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Client-focused mindset with a strong commercial awareness.
- Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and staying abreast of legislative and case law developments.

- Experience with transaction structuring and cross-border tax issues.
