Training & Research Foundation is hiring an Assistant Teacher who will cultivate a positive, stimulating atmosphere for early childhood learning, focusing on critical thinking and decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Assist in implementing the Creative Curriculum and complying with CDE Standards.
- Prepare individualized weekly lesson plans based on children's needs and interests, incorporating multicultural materials.
- Promote an age-appropriate curriculum aligned with California Department of Education, Desired Results, and ITERS/ECERS standards.
- Document volunteer activities and parent communication regarding program functions.
- Organize the classroom according to developmental levels and the individual needs of infants and toddlers.
- Ensure infant and toddler classrooms are home-like, safe, sanitary, and free of clutter.
- Organize rudimentary, well-defined learning centers and rotate materials routinely to create a stimulating environment.
- Provide for diaper changing and toilet training functions in a safe, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Promote secure relationships with infants and toddlers by assuring primary and continuity of care.
- Relate to children in a calm, caring, nurturing manner, responding appropriately and using positive guidance techniques.
- Supervise children at all times during the day.
- Observe children, record observations in anecdotal records, and make appropriate referrals.
- Assist with developmental screenings as assigned.
- Maintain updated individual and group checklists according to program policies.
- Provide meals and snacks to children according to their age, development, and needs.
- Conduct family-style dining according to program policy, procedures, and CDE Standards.
- Involve parents in all aspects of the classroom.
- Greet parents and children pleasantly to ensure a smooth transition and positive home-center connection.
- Maintain ongoing professional communication with parents through various methods and send home curriculum-supporting activities.
- Encourage parents to become involved in workshops, training, and other activities.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, food reports, in-kind reports, and other required documentation.
- Participate in program training and staff meetings.
- Maintain supplies and submit a list to the supervisor when additional items are needed.
- Report to work at scheduled times and maintain good attendance.
- Perform all duties in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate with a positive attitude and behavior in all program activities.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 12 Units in Early Childhood Education, including an Assistant Teacher Permit issued from CCTC.
- Previous experience working with Early Pre-School ages 2-3.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate using proper English grammar.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals, including staff and parents.
- Completion of a physical examination (LIC 503), and proof of immunization for influenza, Tdap, MMR, and a current TB test.
- Submission of satisfactory proof of your identity and your legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training (AB1207).
- Criminal Record Clearance (DOJ/FBI/CACI).
Compensation
- Compensation range: $19 to $23 per hour.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
