The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology, with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a focus on Addictions Counseling. This role is based within the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences.
What You'll Do
- Teach graduate courses in the MA Program in Counseling Psychology, including Addiction Counseling, Professional Identity and Ethics, Psychopathology over the Lifespan, Group Work and Counseling, Counseling Skills, and Practicum/Internship Supervision.
- Teach courses within your area of specialization and contribute to the undergraduate curriculum with courses such as Survey of Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods.
- Conduct a program of scholarly research, supervise student research, and provide academic advising.
- Participate in program, department, university, and professional service.
What We're Looking For
- A doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or a closely related area from an accredited university by the time of employment.
- Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Hawaiʻi as a Mental Health Counselor or Psychologist by the time of employment.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and/or training.
- Documented ability to teach the courses listed under the duties.
- Evidence of research productivity and clear potential for developing a strong program of research in your area of expertise.
Nice to Have
- Documented excellence in teaching the courses listed under duties.
- Experience in mentoring graduate students.
- A strong research record evidenced by empirical publications in recognized scholarly journals or research grants in your area of expertise.
- Experience working with a diverse student body.
