Le Méridien / Marriott International is looking for an Assistant Pastry Chef to help manage the daily operations of kitchens, restaurants, and other food and beverage areas. In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Steward to achieve operational goals and uphold our high standards for quality and service.
What You'll Do
- Work collaboratively with staff to optimize production and exceed guest expectations.
- Inspect staff grooming and attire, addressing any deficiencies.
- Complete opening and closing duties, including setup, cleaning, and securing areas.
- Inspect kitchens, restaurants, and storage areas for organization, food safety, FIFO compliance, and cleanliness.
- Conduct scheduled inventories and requisition necessary supplies.
- Monitor production, safety, and food safety standards.
- Assist the Chief Steward in managing operations across kitchens, restaurants, room service, banqueting, and lounges.
- Complete required paperwork and maintenance repair orders.
- Communicate effectively during shift handover.
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Serve as a role model and initial contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy.
- Follow all company, safety, and security policies; report incidents and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests, anticipate service needs, and assist individuals with disabilities.
- Develop positive working relationships and support team goals.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations.
- Recommend and implement new ways to increase efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, or cost-savings.
- Read and visually verify information in various formats.
- Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or an entire shift.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight.
- Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces.
- Move up and down stairs and service ramps.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

Nice to Have
- A high school diploma.
- At least 2 years of related work experience.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Completion of a Food Safety certification course.
