Strategic Education, Inc. (SEI) is looking for a part-time, remote Assistant Instructor to provide instructional and academic support to learners in our Applied Behavior Analysis and Technology Assisted Teaching courses. You will coach learners, create resources, and facilitate sessions in an online environment, requiring 30-35 hours per week, with flexibility for nights and weekends but some business hour availability.
What You'll Do
- Build an online community conducive to learning and continuous improvement in a positive, learner-focused environment.
- Use text, video, and other technologies to create learning resources that drive engagement and assist with course content.
- Lead and comment in courseroom discussions with learners.
- Plan and facilitate optional weekly interactive, collaborative study and review sessions.
- Assess learning and comprehension through evaluation of course competencies, including informal and formal evaluations using rubrics.
- Keep up to date with essential educational technologies.
- Maintain adequate learner records and check into the courseroom on weekends.
What We're Looking For
- 1-3 years teaching experience at the graduate level in an online environment.
- A completed Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the relevant discipline; all degrees must be from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accreditor.
- Experience with teaching or tutoring.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated effective time management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, follow-through, and a professional demeanor under pressure.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices such as learning contracts, collaborative learning, and active learning strategies.
- Ability to assess individual and group learning needs and explain concepts in different ways.
- Experience working with a diversity of learning styles.
- Comfortable using technology to facilitate learning and embracing pedagogical changes.
- Advocate of social media and mobile technology.
- Authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Nice to Have
- Enrollment in a Doctoral program or a completed Doctorate is preferred for Undergraduate course instruction.
